Wills and Probate
Arguably, a will is the most important document that you will ever have, and you should not be without one – especially if you have a partner and/or children. Writing a will is the only way you can ensure your loved ones are looked after properly, in the way you would want.
Life is full of ups and downs; you do not always know what’s coming next, but planning can help you to manage when they do. At Caris Robson, we understand the need for peace of mind when sorting out the legal affairs of either yourself or a family member.
For example, if you do not have a will and have no immediate relatives, searches will have to be made to establish the whereabouts of distant relatives to inherit your estate. If you have no relatives at all, any property may be left to the Crown, whereas you may have wanted it to be left to a friend or to a charity. Whether you’ve made a will or not, your estate still needs to be sorted out following your death.
Drawing up a will or administering an estate can be highly emotional experiences, but we can offer you clear and focused advice, at what is often a difficult or confusing time, or when financial matters may be the last thing on your mind.
We can offer a comprehensive and personal service on wills and probate and have expert knowledge on drawing up wills, inheritance tax, family law and property law. We are also able to manage the administration and distribution of an estate, relieving you of the stress of worrying about a loved one’s wishes at what is already a distressing time.
Whether you require an expert will drafting service, inheritance tax planning advice, need help with the administration of a will, or require advice on a contested will, we can guide you through the options – and make sure that the future of your family is secure and your wishes are carried out.
And finally, we can also support with preparing a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), which enables you to appoint the people you trust the most to make decisions for you if you later lose the capacity to make those decisions for yourself. We can help guide you through the process, prepare the necessary documents, and support you in appointing the right attorney.
Costs
Wills
Our Wills are charged at 250 + VAT per Will, depending on the complexity and whether they will require a home visit. Please contact us to discuss further and obtain an estimate.
Probate
It is very difficult for us to provide an estimate on cost for obtaining a Grant of Probate/Letters of Administration until we have some idea on the size of the estate and the complexity. Please contact us to discuss your requirements in further detail so that we can provide an estimate. Please be aware that you will be charged for appointments at our hourly rates. Further information on those rates can be obtained by request. We do not offer any free advice periods.
